Grannis Appointment (The Fayetteville Observer)

Former Cumberland County District Attorney Ed Grannis has taken a seat on the state Board of Transportation. Grannis took the oath of office Thursday at a board meeting, a spokeswoman for the N.C. Department of Transportation said. Grannis replaced Gary Ciccone, a Fayetteville real estate broker who wanted to come off the board. Grannis’ term ends January 2015. Grannis was the district attorney from 1975 until his retirement in December. Gov. Beverly Perdue appointed Grannis to the board. Both of them are Democrats. Grannis will represent Division 6, which comprises Bladen, Cumberland, Columbus, Harnett and Robeson counties. Ciccone was appointed to the board in November 2009.
